It is impossible to know what all the little icons, emojis and other symbols mean across social media, particularly when they are used in multiple posts at the same time. You may find that this is the case even within the same app, so we don’t blame you if you are confused if you don’t know what to do. After users noticed that there is a purple circle or ring on the Snapchat app more than once, we are here to explain what that means.
It is true that many of us have grown up using social media and our families consider us experts on everything from Instagram to Twitter and everything in between. However, that’s not the case, and there are a lot of things that we don’t know about, especially when it comes to understanding what everything means. To make sure that we don’t lose your credibility, we can explain what the purple ring means on Snapchat, so when the next member of the family comes running, you won’t lose your credibility.
In the past few years, Snapchat has introduced many new features, such as Snapchat+, the subscription service, and a whole range of Snapchat emojis and icons which have different meanings but which can be used to convey different messages. The purple ring update, which came to the app at the end of last year, seems to indicate that it is still updating itself in order to keep it relevant in the market.
What Does The Purple Circle Mean On Snapchat?
As far as the purple circle on Snapchat is concerned, it is not actually a new feature, it means exactly the same as the blue circle.
The most frequent Snapchat users will remember that there used to be a blue ring around people’s profile pictures on the stories tab when they used to visit Snapchat. In addition to this, you could also see a list of suggested friends in the Quick Add section. As far as I understood, what this meant was that someone had uploaded a story that you hadn’t been able to view yet. Unless you have made their profile public first, you won’t be able to see the stories of people you haven’t added unless they’ve made their profile public to begin with.
Snapchat changed the blue ring on their app from a blue color to a purple color after an update in 2022. This means that there is nothing new that you need to learn! You will notice that once you have viewed their story, the ring will become grey until the person posts something else in their story.
Thankfully, it’s a bit less complicated than all the different chat icons, which have different shapes and colours depending on what they mean.
The Purple Ring With A Lock
Purple circles are only different when they have a lock icon next to them, and this is the only variation that can be seen. This means that only certain groups of people are able to view one of your friend’s stories if you see that one of their stories has this feature. I am happy to say that if you are able to see it, then you are part of that elite club that you’re part of.
The process of setting up a private story is really simple. All you need to do is go to your profile, select story, and then select private story. As you can see, at this point, you will have to choose which friend you would like to see the message, and you are ready to go. Basically, if you think of it like Instagram’s close friends feature, you’re on the right track. However, their ring will be green instead of red.
Now that you’ve found out about the purple ring on Snapchat and you’re in the know about it, you can flaunt that you’ve been in the know all along!
